Neglected Tropical Diseases

Neglected Tropical Diseases (NTDs) are a group of debilitating illnesses that affect over a billion people globally, primarily in tropical and subtropical regions. These diseases, including dengue, leprosy, and schistosomiasis, thrive in conditions of poverty, poor sanitation, and limited access to healthcare. They cause immense suffering, disability, and social stigma, trapping communities in a cycle of poverty and illness.

The Human and Economic Toll

NTDs not only impair health but also hinder economic development. They reduce individuals' ability to work, impair children's growth and cognitive development, and burden healthcare systems. By tackling NTDs, we can improve quality of life, boost economic productivity, and promote social equity.

Our Commitment at One Health Society

Our efforts to combat NTDs are rooted in a holistic and inclusive approach. Key initiatives include:

  • Awareness & Advocacy: Raising awareness about NTDs and advocating for increased funding and resources to combat these diseases.
  • Training & Capacity Building: Providing training for healthcare workers to improve diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of NTDs.
  • Research & Surveillance: Supporting research to develop new treatments and vaccines, and establishing surveillance systems to monitor and respond to outbreaks.

A Call to Action

Ending the neglect of NTDs requires a concerted global effort. By supporting initiatives that address these diseases, you can help break the cycle of poverty and disease. Together, we can ensure that no one suffers from preventable and treatable illnesses simply because of where they live.
