Tanzania Parliamentarian Alliance for AMR

The Tanzania Parliamentarian Alliance for AMR is a strategic initiative aimed at mobilizing policymakers to combat the growing threat of Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) in Tanzania. This project focuses on educating and engaging parliamentarians about the critical issue of AMR and the urgent need for coordinated policy action. By fostering a strong alliance among Tanzania's legislative leaders, we aim to influence the creation and implementation of robust policies that promote responsible antimicrobial use, enhance infection prevention and control measures, and support sustainable health practices.

Key components of the project include:

  • Awareness & Advocacy Workshops: Conducting workshops and seminars to inform parliamentarians about the causes, consequences, and mitigation strategies for AMR.
  • Policy Development Support: Assisting in the drafting of comprehensive policies and legislation aimed at controlling AMR and promoting public health.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Building coalitions with healthcare providers, academic institutions, and civil society organizations to support a unified response to AMR.
  • Monitoring & Evaluation: Establishing mechanisms to monitor the implementation and impact of AMR policies, ensuring accountability and continuous improvement.

By empowering policymakers with knowledge and resources, the Tanzania Parliamentarian Alliance for AMR aims to create a legislative environment that prioritizes and effectively addresses the AMR crisis, safeguarding public health and contributing to the achievement of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
